Watch for these warning signs: difficulty starting, rough or uneven running, excessive smoke, unusual vibrations or noises, reduced power under load, and fuel leaks. If your equipment has been sitting unused for more than 3 months, a service is recommended before use. Regular servicing every 12 months helps prevent costly breakdowns and extends the life of your machinery.

Most small engines run on standard unleaded petrol. For 2-stroke engines (common in chainsaws, whipper snippers and some older mowers), you must mix petrol with 2-stroke oil at the correct ratio, typically 50:1 or as specified in your manual. Using straight petrol in a 2-stroke engine will cause serious damage. We also recommend using fresh fuel (less than 30 days old) and avoiding ethanol-blended fuels where possible, as they can gum up carburettors. Unsure? Bring your equipment in and we will check.

This is one of the most common problems we see. The usual causes include stale or contaminated fuel, a dirty or clogged carburettor, a blocked air filter, a fouled spark plug, or old oil. Sometimes it is a simple fix like draining old fuel and cleaning the carburettor. Other times it points to more serious issues like compression problems. Bring it in and we will diagnose the exact cause before quoting any work.

Yes, seasonal servicing is one of our most popular requests, especially in spring when everyone is preparing their equipment for the growing season. A pre-season tune-up typically includes an oil change, air filter cleaning or replacement, spark plug check, blade sharpening, fuel system inspection, and a full safety check. We also offer end-of-season storage preparation to protect your equipment during the off months. Call ahead and we will get you sorted before the rush.
